Puppy Package:  All puppies are microchipped, vet checked, given their first puppy vaccinations and series of de-wormings before going to their new homes.  They are sold on AKC Limited registration, and are intended as companion animals first and foremost.  If the new owners are considering breeding down the road, they should inform us so we can help them pick out an appropriate puppy.  Limited registration will be lifted in these situations after the adult dog passes various health and temperament tests.  We will not sell to brokers, commercial breeders, or others who would not keep the dog as a pet foremost, even if it fails to become a breeding dog.

Payment: Our puppies are generally $1300.  The lines we specialize in typically range from $900 - $2,000 depending where they are located in this country, the health screens the parents have, the guarantee/warranty the breeder offers, and rather or not they have multiple litters a year.  You will find that we go above and beyond what the average breeder does as far as health  screens, guarantees, and how we raise our pups, but yet we keep the price reasonable.  For those who are not looking to spend so much, we do offer a discount/free puppy program (click for details) to local homes, hobby breeders, and/or sport competitors.  Full payment of the purchase price, less the pre-paid deposit, is required in cash the day the family picks up their new puppy.  At this time both parties will sign a purchase contract (available upon request beforehand).  Puppies can be picked up at 8 weeks of age.

Reservations: A deposit of $300. is required to reserve a puppy, with checks made out to Amy Russell.  Puppies are reserved by sex and/or color, and “picking order” is based on when the deposits are received (provided they are “picked” in a timely manner).  I begin accepting deposits after a breeding has taken place and will refund them if appropriate numbers of that particular sex and/or color are not born, or the buyer can elect to move the deposit to another sex and/or color still available.  Deposits are not refunded because the buyer changes their minds, however on a case-by-case basis I may allow it to be moved to a future litter.

Visiting: At 5 weeks of age I begin bringing my puppies out of the house to visit new places.  Because they have not been vaccinated yet, I am extremely careful which places I select.  Around this time I also begin allowing visitors to come and meet the puppies.  Visiting is typically conducted in Glens Falls as that is where I offer my  pet sitting services and spend most of my daytime hours.

VISITING IS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  Families are required to have NOT been to a veterinarian’s office, another breeder’s premises, a dog show, pet store, or other places where unknown dogs may have frequented, within 2 weeks prior to visiting.  This is for the welfare of my puppies.

Naming: Puppies are required to be named according to the breeders terms.  As in German tradition, each litter is given a letter that their first names must start with , followed by my AKC registration name, Vom Sachsenwolf, which  is like a surname for dogs (not a business name).  I allow the owner to pick out the first name provided it starts with the appropriate letter and I approve it.  They may also pick out a middle name if they desire.  Here are actual examples from Litter A:  Arro Bergman Vom Sachsenwolf, Ariel Magdelina Vom Sachsenwolf, Augustus Anubis Vom Sachsenwolf, Ares Vom Sachsenwolf, etc.

Return Policy:  We realize things happen in life and sometimes a family is faced with having to give up their dog.  We do not want any of our puppies to EVER end up in a shelter or just given away to someone who would take less than superb care of them.  To insure our puppies remain loved and well-cared for throughout their lives, it is required that if the family wishes to or finds they need to give up their dog, that they inform us.  In some cases we will give a partial refund of the purchase price for the return of our puppies.

Warranty: There are many health issues plaguing the German Shepherd breed as a whole today, however your chances are greatly increased of having a healthy puppy and dog when you go with a reputable breeder that thoroughly screens their breeding dogs for common issues.  Even with the best of intentions and research, one cannot know all of the genes a dog carries, and unfortunately no breeder can guarantee perfect health, but you can demand they stand behind the puppies they produce.  Please read a breeder’s “guarantee” carefully as many require you return your dog to them, only cover the first year, only cover certain defects (such as hips), or will only replace your pup and will not give any money back.  My warranty covers a dog until it’s third birthday and is a FULL REFUND w/o returning your dog!  I have yet to see better offered in this breed.  My warranty covers any serious genetic defect that will greatly and permanently impact the quality of a companion dog’s life.  PLEASE ASK TO SEE CONTRACT FOR EXACT TERMS.
